The ECB6250 does NOT have a passthrough, so a splitter is needed. My cable modem doesn't appear to have MoCA built in. I tried using a splitter to connect the modem and ECB6200S02 in parrallel but the MoCA flickered for unknown reason. The ECB6200S02 has a passthrough coax jack that my cable modem is perfectly happy to use. If a network with DHCP is present, it will take a DHCP address. If no network is present, it defaults to 192.168.99.254. The WCB6200Q is a bit irritating, as you CANNOT set a static IP. That's relevant for Verizon users who want to adjust the MoCA channel to avoid logging into the Verizon router/whatever. I scanned it and it has an open port at 192.168.144.200:80, but the default admin:admin password did not work. The ECB6250 has no documented web interface. The ECB6200 supposedly has a web interface, mentioned on the web, but not documented by the manufacturer, but I did not test this. The WCB6200Q has a web interface, with login information printed on the device, and it even has ssh available with busybox. The manufacturer tech support did not indicate that they wouldn't work with each other, either. My assumption is that for these devices, MoCA 2.0 and MoCA 2.5 are not compatible, even though the MoCA spec is designed to be backward compatible. Each device would talk to it's own kind, but no way either of the ECB6250 would talk to the WCB6200Q via MoCA! Got 2 replacement devices through Amazon. No indication that the devices were not compatible. Ultimately they recommended exchanging the items. Tech support was Indian, difficult to understand, and followed a script. Called tech support, and unable to get them to work. Tried networking them together by connecting them directly to each other via the MOCA cable port with no luck. I got the ECB6250 and a WCB6200Q from Amazon to set up a WiFi access point with MoCA backbone. I have Charter/Spectrum Cable Internet in NC. It IS compatible with the ECB6200S02 (MoCA 2.0 bonded). TLDR: The WCB6200Q (MoCA 2.0 bonded) is NOT compatible with the ECB6250 (MoCA 2.5). u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
